Hair Colour Consultation & Colour Policy
Professional Hair Colour Starts With A Professional Consultation
At Beach Hair Hove, we believe every beautiful hair colour begins with an in-depth consultation. Whether you're visiting us for a subtle refresh, a complete colour transformation, balayage, highlights or grey coverage, we'll take the time to understand your hair, your lifestyle and your goals before recommending the best approach.
Our consultation ensures your colour is tailored to you while keeping your hair healthy, strong and in the best possible condition.
Why Is A Hair Colour Consultation Important?
Every client's hair is unique, which is why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach. During your consultation, we'll discuss your hair goals, colour inspiration, previous colour history, current hair condition, lifestyle and maintenance routine. We'll also explain what is realistically achievable, recommend the most suitable techniques and products, and provide a clear quotation before your appointment begins.
This personalised approach allows us to create beautiful, long-lasting colour while protecting the health and integrity of your hair.
New Colour Clients
If you're visiting Beach Hair Hove for the first time and would like a colour service, we recommend booking a consultation before your appointment.
This gives your stylist the opportunity to assess your hair properly, discuss your desired result, carry out any required skin testing and ensure enough time is allocated for your appointment. It also allows us to answer any questions you may have before your visit.
Existing Colour Clients
Even if you've been visiting us for years, every colour appointment begins with a consultation.
Hair naturally changes over time due to previous colouring, hormones, medications, lifestyle and environmental factors. Before every colour service, your stylist will check your hair's condition, discuss any changes you'd like to make and ensure your chosen colour is still the right option for you.
Skin Testing (Patch Testing) Policy
Your safety is always our priority.
Following the latest professional guidance, many clients will require a skin test before a colour appointment.
A skin test is usually required if you are a new colour client, if it has been six months or more since your last colour appointment with us, if you have previously had your hair coloured elsewhere, if you are making a significant colour change, if your medical history or medication has changed, if you have experienced a reaction to hair colour in the past, or if the colour manufacturer recommends repeat testing.
Skin testing must normally be completed at least 48 hours before your colour appointment.
Unfortunately, we cannot carry out a colour service without the appropriate skin test where one is required. If you are unsure whether you need one, please contact the salon before booking.
Colour Correction Appointments
Colour correction appointments always require a separate consultation.
Correcting previous colour, removing unwanted tones or creating a major colour transformation often requires a bespoke plan and, in some cases, multiple appointments.
During your consultation, we'll assess your current hair, discuss what is realistically achievable, explain the process involved, recommend any treatments that may be beneficial and provide an accurate estimate for both the time and investment required.
Hair Health Comes First
We will always give honest professional advice if your chosen colour could compromise the condition of your hair.
Where appropriate, we may recommend strengthening or bond-building treatments, glossing services or a gradual colour journey over several appointments. Our priority is always to achieve beautiful colour while maintaining healthy, strong hair.
Our Colour Policy
To ensure every client receives the highest standard of service, every colour appointment includes a professional consultation. We may ask new clients to attend a consultation before booking a colour service, and skin testing must be completed where required.
We reserve the right to refuse a colour service if a skin test has not been carried out or if we have concerns about the condition of your hair or the safety of the service.
Please let your stylist know if there have been any changes to your medical history, medication, pregnancy status or allergies, or if you have used home colour, henna or metallic dyes since your last appointment. This information helps us provide the safest and most effective colour service possible.
